Hi, thank you for the guide. It worked like a charm and I am loving Mac OS X. I haven't had a lot of time to fiddle around with it, but I hope to spend more time with it soon. Here is my dilemma though, I want to get back to running Windows XP for a little bit to finish up some things, and I don't have an XP boot disc. Like you, I have an IBM Thinkpad, only mine is an R50e. I was trying to access Rescue and Recovery from BIOS, but the computer would never go into the Rescue and Recovery mode; it just showed up with the blue screen of death and gave me a fatal system error message. I was wondering since you used an IBM Thinkpad, if you were able to get into Rescue and Recovery from BIOS and how you did it.

Thanks,
imweezle

Thank you. Your guide is really helpful. I have 2 windows systems. I tried to install Mac OSX on one of the machines. I have installed successfully by wiping out windows completely. But, the problem is when the system got restarted it couldn't load Mac. I tried 6 times. I have given single partition to Mac OSX that is my hard disk completely. So, can u help??

Thank you so so so much for a fantastic guide. Easy to understand, everything I needed explaining explained.

Everything is working perfectly and it only took a little googling to find an install file for my wireless card. Time to find out why everyone bangs on about how good OSX is!

QuoteYou will need to re-format the partition to MAC OS X during the installation using the MAC OS partition manager that is build in the installation program.
[/quote

please, the steps would be really nice, how do you access this partition manager

if you mean under disk utility then partition, then there are no drives showing other than the DVD drive

thanks very much

Last post by Torob - October 21, 2007, 05:29:24 AM
Hey guys, I've loved the guide so far, but i haven't managed to get on off too far from it
I'm on a Intel p4 1.5ghz
768 mb RD ram
nvidia geforce fx 5500 oc

now i don't get far because when i insert my disc and start the computer
i do the press any key to continue
and all the text comes up
but then in somewhere near the end, i get an error..
the following
first line is the error, then after a few seconds or maybe a minute the second line follows, and it just repeats itself

SAM Multimedia: Read or Write failed, ASC = 0x29, ASCQ = 0x00
Still waiting for root device.

Any ideas? i did a search on forum so similar error, but found none
so I'm guessing I'm the only one with this
any help appreciated, thanks.

JAS OSX 10.4.8 Installation Discussion / Bye for now, everyone!

Hello all,
Unfortunately, due to my academic commitment, I no longer have the time and resources to address all the issues here. However, I would still maintain this Forum as well as the Wiki Guide and I encourage everyone who have tried to use my guide to help others out. I would appreciate all of your help.
Please feel free to start a new thread for each question, the FAQ thread is getting a little too long to read from.
Once again, thanks a lot for all the support you have shown to the small Wiki guide that I wrote.

Best of luck!

Not sure as I do not have NVidia Card, anyone has a Nvidia card and would like to help this gentleman out? Thanks!

Well, I got it up and running great!  Thanks for the wonderful instructions.  I have another question though, is there any way to get drivers installed for all my products?  Like my 6800GT video card.  Nvidia doesn't seem to make Mac drivers for their 6 series.  Anyone know a way to get everything recognized and working properly?

You used Windows Vista? Try to find the newest version of Acronis.

Hey, I followed your guide exactly and it worked perfectly through the installation.  After reboot however, Acronis loaded and says "Acronis OS selector was unable to load 'UNKNOWN' operating system. The partition required cannot be found."  Do you have any idea what this means?  Thanks.

-Edit- This is what I get now: http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y115/Casualfitzy/ERROR.jpg

Is there any way to tell where the problem lies?  The installation went so smoothly I'd hate to think my disc was messed up.

Use 1024*768, unfortunately I do not think Hackintosh support any higher resolution.

hy,

I have a problem: When I restart the computer and boot to mac os x,  a "grey colored" page where you see the apple logo at the center and below it is a small gear like circle appears. But after 20 seconds, the display gets black (stand-by-mode).
I think it's a problem with the graphical card (I have a ATI Readon x300/x550 Series)
I have already tried: "Graphics mode"="1280x1024x32" (I have VESA 2)
Then, the installation was in the 1280x1024 mode, but the problam with the black screen remains.

I hope you can help me...
Thanks!
